ERCOT (the Electric Reliability Council of Texas) and the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) have launched a new initiative to modernize our electric grid: Virtual Power Plants.

A virtual power plant (VPP) is a group of homes with solar and batteries that work together to help power the grid. When lots of people use electricity at once, the batteries help share extra power — keeping lights on and power stable for everyone. Your home becomes part of the solution and gets backup power, too.

To qualify, your home must meet a layers of qualifications, step 1 is your homes energy usage threshold.

There is no loan, no debt, and no out-of-pocket cost for qualified homes.
The upgrades are paid for by utility and finance partners as part of a state-backed effort to ease stress on the power grid.If approved, you just pay for the lower-cost electricity your system produces — often less than your current bill.
